 An aftercooler is a type of heat exchanger used to cool air that has been compressed by a turbocharger or supercharger before it enters an engine. This cooled air is denser, allowing for more efficient combustion, better performance, and increased fuel economy.

Aftercoolers are also commonly called charge-air coolers (CACs). They play a critical role in protecting engines from overheating and damage caused by excessive intake temperatures.
